Discovering the Spiritual Legacy of Darbar Baba Nu Lakh Hazari

Discover the sacred Darbar Baba Nu Lakh Hazari in the city of Shahkot in the Nankana Sahib District, in Punjab, Pakistan.

Adjacent to the shrine stands a mountain, where an annual gathering takes place on 23rd March to commemorate the Urs (death anniversary) of Baba Nu Lakh Hazari.

The shrine was constructed in the 12th century to pay homage to Abu Alkhair Syed Murad Ali Shah Bukhari, also known as Noulakha. He arrived in Shahkot during the same period with the mission of propagating Islam in the Indian subcontinent. “Nau lakh” translates to “nine hundred thousands” in Punjabi, a name attributed to Noulakha because locals believe he recited the Quran 900,000 times during his life.
